About Gene

Hey there, I’m Gene Kay, a born and raised Kingstonian, currently living in the west end with my wife and our sweet Frenchie Gertie. I’ve always believed that real estate is more than just buying and selling houses—it’s about building relationships, creating opportunities, and helping people make confident decisions about their future.

Prior to my real estate career, I had a diverse professional background. I worked in the skilled trades and spent years in investigative services, where I developed a keen eye for detail, risk assessment, and problem-solving. Later in life, I decided to make a change, returning to school to study law. That’s when I found myself drawn to real estate and property law, realizing I had developed a unique skill set that could truly benefit buyers, sellers, and investors.

Now, I specialize in working with first-time homebuyers, investors, and those looking to take on renovation projects. I use my construction knowledge to help clients understand a home’s potential, my investigative background to gather the right information, and my legal expertise to identify potential risks—ensuring my clients are always in the strongest position.

I started my real estate career with another brokerage before joining RE/MAX in 2016. In 2021, I founded KayTown Homes Real Estate Group, leading a team of talented agents under one simple philosophy: treat clients like family and always go the extra mile.

Outside of real estate, I love to play guitar, cook, and travel and explore different cultures—an experience that has helped me connect with people from all walks of life. Whether we’re discussing market trends, investment strategies, or renovation potential, I bring that same curiosity, open-mindedness, and dedication to every conversation.
